Spotlight blew fuse in 2005 GMC Envoy, changed it but only one of four outlets work? Any suggestions? They workd b4
1 out of four cigarette lighters work after changing 20 amp fuse. the one we used at the time of blowout doesn't work. I suspect the deer spotlight is bad the cord was hot at time of blowout.

I own a shop, and this is what I think, 1st of all, a spot light uses how many amps to make it work? You burned up the outlet, it shorted out, and blew the fuse. You were close to making a big fire, and its a good thing the fuse did its job. A high output light should be wired straight to the battery, through a fuse that's rated to manage the candle power of the light, and to a socket that's rated for high amperage. If any wire is too small, or a poor ground is in place, then the wire will heat up like a cigarette lighter. as well, the length of the wires from the light to the power source is rated at so many ohms of resistance. that means, the longer the wire, the more ohms of resistance you have, so use the shortest wire possible, and use a heavy enough gage wire to take the load, or you'll have the heating problem with the wires. The cigarette lighter outlet you used, now needs replaced. Some outlets in vehicles aren't for cigarette lighters, and are there to run cell phones & such, and are not intended to take that kind of load. Like I said, If you could run it directly off the battery with some clamps, use a fusible link, and pay attention to the heating of the wires when using it, you may want to be able to bag a couple of antlers without any problems.
Glad to help, Good Luck.

You may damaged the wires that go to that outlet behind the panels that cover the wire.
After all the wires to the spot light were hot enough to make you think that the spotlight is burned up. How hot do think the wire in the dash got?

THE OUTLET AND OR THE WIRING IS DAMAGED.
TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE you'll BE in general MORE happy WITH THE results AND THE SERVICE.
LEAVE IT THERE WITH THEM SO THAT THEY CAN FIND THE PROBLEM FOR YOU, it'll BE lots BETTER THAN JUST REPLACING PART AFTER PART AND NOT DOING ANY GOOD.
