Subaru Impreza question????

I noticed that WRX's have a sweet tone when they put a big catback muffler system. Kinda like a harley and a V8, I love it. Can it work for an 07 Impreza 2.5i non turbo? Will it make that sound?

Im sorry about everyone that posted here, but since 06 the 2.5i used equal length headers. Older 2.5rs models had unequal length headers like the wrx's. The newer equal length headers flow better that is why they changed them. This most likely not what you wanted to hear but you won't get the same sound. There are some clips of aftermarket catbacks on youtube and they still don't sound like honda's. I don't see why you could not screw on the older 2.5rs headers, doing that could bring back the subie rumble.

Yes, my friend used to have an Impreza 2.5RS with an induction kit possibly a cat back zorst too, and it sounded more like an STi than a WRX.

you can get it from most of the subarus.

the sound you hear is from the "boxer" motor.. any boxer motor from diff types of makes pretty much all sound the same... everyone else who says its different is a retard

its less pronounced on the non turbo motors, but it'll still have the boxer grumble. One of the not many 4bangers that I like the sound of. nearly a bit dieselish. can not wait to get exhaust for my 05 STi need some suspension goodies 1st although .

That sound is the distinctive exhaust note you get out of a flat plane engine design. sweeter from a flat six its the reason Porsche 911 holders are 50% more snooty than wrx holders. it will work on any Subaru with a free flowing exhaust. A racing cat and header will complete it.

Yes it'll work the same, but as others have said, not quite as pronounced as the Turbo..still nice although.nothing quite like a Scooby burble.

For the low boxer rumble you need un equal length headers if you have equal length it'll sound like a Honda Civic plus it depends on the size of the exhaust system

i have been modifying imprexas too, and yeah, they'll fit. I have changed the I mpreza you talked about and the person also said that he wanted the same mufflers like you. the result, they sounded beautifully, and yeah, I propose you do it.

I recomend Borla headers. I have been putting them on subarus for many years and they sound sick.

The RS is much louder than turbo.
