Subaru Outback, mileage? |
|
Thinking about to get an outback, I know they're well built and dependable but I have been hearing the mileage isn't as good as one may expect.
What is some common numbers I may expect? thanks.

It depends both on driving conditions and the engine. I have lowered fuel intake with a Legacy wagon by more than 10% over the last year, simply by taking fuel saving measures being lighter on the gas, using the A/C sparingly and keeping the tires inflated .
You'd be hard pressed to find other mid sized AWD wagons or crossovers that get better mileage than the Outback with the non turbochoarged 2.5L engine. it is not especially fast, but in general mileage could probably be in the 20 22 mpg 10.5 twelve L/100 km range, and you'd easily get over 30 mpg eight L/100 km on the highway with a light foot.
Opt for the turbocharged engine and in general mileage could probably drop to around 18 19 mpg 12.5 13 L/100 km, or the mid teens with agressive driving. The mileage is really not bad considering the car's size and performance, but it is notably lower than with the non turbo engine. Mileage for the six cylinder engine is in about the same ballpark as the turbo.

Depending on how you drive it may vary from 32 to 37 miles a gallon.
