The window button on my car got stuck. help? |
|
Okay.. so you know how on the door of cars exactly a GMC safari van there's a button that you press to move the window up and down. my boyfriend hit his fist against it on accident and it popped down into the side of the door and we can not get it out = it is not my car, it is my mom's and we did not have the chance to tell her tonight because she was asleep when we got home. how much could it possibly cost to get fixed, tops? we tried unscrewing that part of the door but it would not budge. the window works perfectly good still, it is just the button that is stuck. help?

think your over reacting for such a small situation. It may be the switch got jammed in there, or it broke and still still works. I'm sure that a junk yard/dealer/auto store could have one, pretty cheap.

The button housing is made out of pot metal and your BF must have broke the tabs off the button. I am not sure of the cost, but something $40 dollars sounds about right, then there's the labor to install it. I could guess close to a $100 at least.

What I could do could be to go over to Radio Shack or Lowe's and get a double throw toggle switch and wire it up yourself, just find the wires connected to the window motor. Two household light switches could also work, they cost about 50 cents a part. Good luck.

Go to a glass shop, they can be able to fix you up with just labor cost. I recently had three switches replaced, and it only cost me $150.
