I have a 1998 civic illusion 1.4 and want more power. I have a B16 engine at home that I bought a while back but still needs aucilleries, wiring loom and so on. With the chipped keys, the have to get a blank ECU etc I think it can be easier to do up my current engine. I realise that the B series engines are better than my D14A4, but im looking for faster, not fastest, and whilst having VTEC could be nice, the cars already quite nippy with the standard engine.



What I'd like to know is if you may be able to get a turbo kit for a D14A4 that runs carefully on stock internals? any sites that sell them, and do you think its worth putting money into a D14?

You can put a turbo in your civic now. But only increase with 5psi. Anymore then you may also just do a nos kit.



Honestly a 1.4 engine isn't meant to do anything other than save money on gas. The B16 is a slight step up by power and still uses little gas. If you have another car then by all means tweak/change/boost or whatever you like to the car. Just remember anything you do will devalue it more and pretty much makes it worthless for private sales.



It could be simplest to change out the internals of the 1.4. Change the cams\timing, complete performance exhaust headers, pipe, muffler, cold air intake, lighter fly wheel. Also taking out needless parts in your car to make it lighter. Of course if you',re going to change out the internals may also go for the turbo also. All in all the money you spent on making the civic faster may have gone into purchasing a naturally faster car.



The question is, do you want a fast civic with lots of upkeep? or do you want a beemer?
