Use Car Cigarette Lighter to play MP3/Music? |
|
I have a 1994 Toyota LE and I could like to know if I could play music on my car stereo speakers and its stereo is Toyota company fitted . Because I have searched and so far all I learned was that the lighter isn't connected to speakers it's only for charging. If you may be able to tell me how. thanks in advance

It's not wireless so there is no chance for interference. Not to be perplexed with an FM transmitter. It just adds an AUX port to ANY radio.
It feeds your audio signal from a headset jack or RCA cables by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off.
This IS the answer. Totally versatile.

Yes. I got an FM transmitter off eBay that plugs into the lighter socket. This little thingy is in turned plugged into the MP3 player. It takes the music from there, and transmits it as an FM radio signal. Then I tune my FM radio to the bandwith my transmitter's using, and presto.

The lighter is only used to offer power. What you need is either a cassette tape adapter if your car has a cassette player, or an fm transmitter. either of those will plug into your mp3 player and send the music to your car stereo. they're available at any electronics store and auto parts stores. they typically cost between $20 60 depending how cool you get. If you do get a transmitter, get one that allows you to decide the whole fm band not just the four frequency choice. the transmitter really transmits your mp3s which you hear by tuning in a particular station on your radio.

if you have a tape deck, use a cassette input thingy, they cost like $10
if you do not have a tape deck, use an FM transmitter, they're also pretty cheap.
For the lasting, and for best quality, get an aftermarket radio installed, that has an axillary input.

Wait, the lighter socket only works as a power supply and isn't connected to the speakers itself, some cars I do not know about yours have a small socket called AUX that's typically located either on the Radio panel or as in the honda civic just below the lighter socket.
you will need a connector cable that has a headset jack on each side to connect it.
if not then you may be able to use that device mentioned in one answer above, that will take the audio from your mp3 change it to FM wave that you may hear using the car FM Radio.
A 3rd choice is to get a set of speakers that are powered by the lighter and plugs into your mp3 player, you won't be using the car speakers then
