How do you open a 96 Jetta glove compartment?

I Just bought a used 96 Jetta, but can not figure out how to open the glove compartment. it is my understanding that earlier models did not have one caused by the airbags, but that the 96 should. crappy, I know. Thanks.

The '96 Jetta did not have a glove box. I know, because I sold VWs in 1996. You missed out, because they started adding gloveboxes in 1997.

They do make glovebox conversion kits, where they retrofit the '97 98 Jetta's glovebox into the knee bolster on the passenger side for earlier models. you may be able to pick them up used on eBay, or sniff around on vwvortex.comvwvortex.com">vwvortex.com to see if anybody can find a source for new ones.

does it have a lock? if it does then there ya go

thats fockin baby game . know what just go and kick the bumper really hard front or rear doese`nt really metter the airbags should open and there will be the glove compartment the one wich desen`t opened so play with it and after a while u`ll manage to open it .. if not pick a hammer god dammit . =
