I have a 1999 f150. the digital odometer keeps going on & off. a friend had the same problem.what's the prob

i repaired many, many FORD trucks for this problem. it's in depth to explain but you have to re solder your circuit board in the instrument cluster.

you either have a bad ground or the computer is bad in your truck. have the electrical tested at a mechanics shop.
if you were to do the work yourself you could have to tear the dash off to find the bad ground. also check to see if your fuses are seated properly. they may just have corrosion

The problem is the instrument cluster, although to change it you need a computer to take the info out of the old one to put in the new one.

Yes, it has a bad solder joint on the circuit board. And by the way, the cluster holds it own mileage memory, not the PCM like mentioned in the last answer. Check out ford trucks.comford trucks.com">ford trucks.com for your truck information.

This is a very common problem on 1999 - 2003 F-series pickups and full size SUVs.
