The Chilton's Guide is OK for basic descriptions of how to fix a VW, but the real guide to get is the Bentley manuals.

bentleypublishers.com/bentleypublishers.com/">bentleypublishers.com/.

They cost more than the Chilton's Guide, but are worth it. more in depth than Chilton's guides, with wiring diagrams, and all the technical specifications. it is lots thicker, too: like a "Yellow Pages book" thick versus "paperback novel" thick.

Most bigger public libraries have manuals IE Chilton's and factory manuals and bulletins.
