I think 1st you may want to clarify which kind of "mods" you could like to do. Either performance or style.

If performance, you have to choose how you want to use your car. If for drag/street racing, then you may be able to do mods to the engine to make it faster, and to the suspension to make the car launch better. If you want to drift, you have to set the suspension up differently. There again, if you want to road race, that takes another totally different setup. majority of people that drive their cars daily, and use them to drag race, drift from time to time, and do some road racing, will pick a common setup that's tailored to all three.

If you need style, you have to think about how you want your car to look. If you're wanting to make a racing type car out of it, then a simple wing, and hood scoops can accomplish this. If you're going for the all out body kit, and lowered look, that may be done. But you must remember that often mods that you do to improve your style and looks, like body kits, hydraulics, air suspension, lowering springs all can have adverse influence on performance and bound your alternatives. So you have to keep this in mind.

You best bet is to use up a whole lot of time reading, finding forums on the internet, searching the internet, looking through magizines, and talking to people to choose what you want your car to do for you before you start making mods. Too many people will just tear into something and not think about the next step, or anything else they could like to do to their car, then it turns out to be a nightmere. Along the same lines, whatever you do, be sure you follow through. There are too many half finished sport compacts, also as muscle cars on the road that give everyone else in the car modding community a bad name. if you're going to do it, think about it, follow through, and do it right.

Good Luck.
