1. Turn ignition switch to position I.
2. Press and hold "tripometer reset button".
3. Turn ignition to position II.
4. Continue holding day counter for about ten seconds.
5. After Service Reminder Light flashes, release tripometer button.
6. Should hear "beep beep" to confirm command accepted.

It should tell you in the owner's manual how to reset the light, I believe the procedure involves the trip odometer and a sequence with the ignition switch.

Get in the car, do not turn it on, and push in the reset button for the odometer. Hold it down, and turn the key to "on", not start. Keep holding the button down for about ten seconds, and the warning triangle will start flashing. Turn the car all the way off, wait ten seconds, and you're done.
Works for my '06 V70. Let me know if it works for you.

Ive got the same car as you, same year, model etc. I have tried about 20 different variants of the answers on here and as still none of them worked. I phoned volvo and they want £25 +vat to turn it off.. Ill keep trying but in the mean time, let me know if you have any delight. cheers.
