Postby Pikovit79 » Sat Sep 29, 2007 10:50 am

i have been in love with subaru's since highschool I was a tuba play and needed trunk space, now that I'm older and will be graduating college in a couple years, I just want to know what people think about the Subaru Baja like mpg, dependability, yearly cost, is it an "exotic vehicle" or foreign, quality, crash test, and how is the company doing will they be around for sometime or go stomach up ?

If you are interested in a new Baja, you'd better act soon. The last Baja rolled off the production line in Lafayette, IN back in April and dealers will most likely get their last Bajas in July.

If you may be able to pay for it and the premium gasoline it likes, the Baja Turbo is a fast car. The Baja is depending on the Legacy/Outback platform and shares the same service manuals. I, personnally, am not too fond of the body cladding, but it does serve a function.

Although the Baja has not been tested by the IIHS for crashworthiness, other Subaru have. The 2006 Forester, Impreza and Legacy all received "GOOD" ratings in every group rare. I expect the Baja to be safe, also.

i can not tell you anything from 1st hand experience. my friend has a baja and a forester. they're comparable when it comes to gas. he loves the baja and they both say that it's far more fun to drive than the forester. go to subaru.com for specifications or buyer reports for crash test ratings. it's a foreign car and subarus have a great repute for being dependable and lasting. my impreza is nine years old with nearly 200,000 miles on it and it's still going strong. the company is doing good, it'll be around for a long time.

The baja has the same drivetrain and structure as the forester I think, The only difference is it has a bed. If you like the newer subaru's, go for it.

Do you remember the Subaru Brat from way back when? Well just add fuel injection and two doors and there you go. buyer Reports I think said it was just a little off on dependability compared with the rest of the lineup.

its not the best gas saving car partially cuz of the awd . its a pretty costly car to keep up on maintenance in comparison to other asian cars, but its a real dependable car. go look on auto.consumerguide.com it has dependable information or subaru.com the performance of the car makes up for the price. the company will not go stomach up on you any time soon. all the subaru holders I have had come in the door have been real pleased with it. I personally like the outback wagon. subarus drive great overall. hope you enjoy your car if you end up purchasing it.

The Baja is a able small pickup that will give long trouble free service if you take care of it. Better get a new one now before they're all gone,no 2007 production.

It is easily one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen in my life it's second only to the Pontiac Aztec. The Baja is half plastic, half metal.

as a baja owner 2003 I could give you a better opinion, although being a 2003, mine is a bit under powered for its weight

mpg avg 23 24 depends on my driving behavior. Not great for a care this size but not awful for an AWD vehicle

realiabilty excellent

versatality excellent

maintenance..ive had no problems, oil changes every 4000 6000 miles and one 400 dollar all around tune up, liquid change etc

fun to drive, but takes a little time to change to,i suppose that depends on what you drive now.
