What do you think about the Lexus RX400h?

The RX 400h is a great car.

It was the world's 1st Luxury Hybrid car. majority of people think hybrids are slower but Lexus Hybrids are performance hybrids. The Rx400h offers 270 hp from the same engine in the RX330 which only has 238. The electric motors give instant torque if you want the power it's there for the asking.

Also the RX400h FWD model gets 31mpg city/27 mpg highway. This is great mpg for an SUV. about, your looking at get 300 to 400 miles per tank, so you'll fill up less frequently. Now you may notice these, number are backwards that's caused by using electric motors only for slower speeds and bumper to bumper traffic, city driving.

The RX 400h is seamless acceleration and changing as it has a CVT transmission. A continuously variable transmission. there aren't gears like you a used to having, it's one smooth operation. And the car puts out emission equal to that of a two L four cylinder car.

If you haven't done so. go for a test drive. you'll be happy.

If you want to make yourself feel environmentally good about purchasing a costly SUV, that does not handle also as an Acura MDX, RDX, or a Honda Pilot at $20,000 less, I say go for it.

Why not just have the V6 variant if you give a crap about the environment or the V8 if you want the power. Or, and heres a really contrevesial idea, why not just purchase a bog standard saloon that has no cool four wheel drive that chucks out more carbon better handling, style and is a damn sight safer in a crash.

We've had our RX400h for about nine weeks and we are happy. I am averaging a joint 26 mpg driving a mix of city/hwy. My RX330 three years old was avg 16 mpg.

The leases they offered were better than the RX350.

This is our 3rd car in the RX line and we have been happy with all of them. My only complaint and it's minor, is that since I do not have to fill it every week, I am on an irratic gas schedule. consequently I wish there was a beeper or buzzer for when the need gas light comes on. On the RX330 you had a button on the console that could tell you how many miles you had left till you required to refill your tank. That feature isn't on the RX400h.
Also, not sure why they did not make a hands free phone an choice on this car though it's available on the other Lexus cars or Toyotas .

I got Navy Blue with a grey pinstripe.

Get one for the power, not for the gas mileage. You will not save money by purchasing a luxury hybrid.

I own and RX300 and am happy with it.
