What kind of rims will fit my 1991 Volvo 240 Sedan? |
|
I just bought a 1991 Volvo 240 sedan, and I'm trying to find some black rims for it. I think it could look awesome with black rims, black paint job, and a roof rack. I do not know much at all about customizing cars. I only know how to give them the maintenence that keeps them running.. Thanks

james H has the best answer, but you may want to hold off purchasing new rims for a couple of months.
Getting a new used car may be a great experience, but you could run into some costs that you are not expecting.
A fuel pump could go, you may run into trouble with the steering, struts or any number of things. particularly on a classic like the 240.
Don't mis understand, the 240 is bulletproof, and I am not speaking badly about your choice, but only proposing that every car has own personality that will reveal itself through time.
Fancy black rims on a 240 may appear like earrings on pig if you blow five to 700 dollars on a car that will not run.
Get to know the car 1st.
Check out brickboard.com a web site for volvo freaks.

Any good tire merchant may help you here. you must get rims sized for your specific car, which means having enough clearance so the wheels do not rub on the brake calipers and the tires will not rub on the body/frame when turning. Volvo wheels had the same screw pattern from about 1971 all the way through the 240, 740 and 940 series. Ford wheels fit also but remember the clearances.

Go to IPD.com . they have all the parts you need. due to distinctive offshoot on the 240. there's a restricted Choice of custom rims, but there are some that look great on IPD. just take them to any paint shop and ask for a "Black Powder Coat".
Also. you may be able to search for other rims Online, with the particular Volvo offshoot. 20mm anda 17 x 7.5" size. The real size of the rim can differ as much as you want really. but do not go putting 20"s on it.. that's just Ridiculus..
Anhow. Hope I have been helpfull. Cheers.
Oh yeah.. Congratulations on purchasing a volvo.
240's rock. lol
My friend has one jacked up for mudding, lmao. a 4wd volvo with 400 hp. haha
