I love Mercedes cars and my favorite is the g55 or g500. What exactly is difference between the two? They look the same to me, why are they named differently?

like mentioned before the engine in the 55 is more powerful than in the 500. also the 55 has a more violent look, and is more lowered for better performance, and has a sport suspension, staggerd wheel setup, bigger brakes, throatier exhaust etc. if you drive them both you'll notice the difference not only in power, but primarily in handling.

The major difference is in the engines. The G500 uses a V8 naturallyaspirated gasoline engine.

The G55 uses a bigger displacement V8 engine naturally aspirated up till the ',04 model year and supercharged starting in 2005 that was worked over by AMG, the Benz inhouse tuning company.



There are other trim and suspension differences also as the G55 is intended to be sportier.

The g55 is an AMG Mercedes, which means its fast as and has all types of nice upgrades all over the car performance and style. I',m not going to google the specifications for you. The 500 may have a ',bigger', engine, but the 55 is sporttuned up the wazoo. its type of like comparing a 5Seris BMW to an M5.

Besides the engines, not much. But the extra $15k for the AMG is it.
