What's your opinion on the selling of Chrysler Group to Cerberus?
Personally, I think it's great. The Germans did bring Chrysler back into the mainstream again, but I feel better that it's back under US control. I do not think that the Germans were happy that a inferior US brand was earning money over a superior German brand. But that's my thinking, wrong or not.

as indicated by media reports the Chrysler brand was bought nine years ago for the tidy sum of $39 billion, it was afterward sold to the Cerberus Group which is a private equity fund, for $7.4 billion. The legacy costs for health care and pensions for Chrysler are stated to be at $20 billion. These legacy costs are the dedicated pensions and health care benefits for the retired workers of Chrysler. I understand your patriotism, but in this case it's to early to tell if this is a win win or a win lose. Daimler most likely didn't give the Chrysler brand the needed attention to grow the business. What that means transaction to Chrysler is that their will be some serious down sizing of incumbent debt also as employees, namely labor costs, a restructuring of the organization and soon to be fewer varieties of different makes of vehicles under the Chrysler banner. Painful decisions are going to must be made, because Cerebeus bought Chrysler to make money not carry debt. The Chrysler building in Detroit also as the brand name is iconic in American culture. I want Chrysler to be an exceptional company I just wince at what it'll take to get there.

I am a Chrysler fan but the do have issues
overrelaince on a shrinking truck and SUV segment
no competitive small car PT is dated and Caliber is just odd
No competitive midsize car we'll have to see if this Avenger makes it
they missed the market with the Charger making it a four door and no stick shift
positives include
+ the new Challenger if the deal doesn't stop production, if they can make them in big numbers and the if dealers do not gouge customers ie Ford mustang 500
+ probably being able to defeat the UAW down on costs
