Well On A BMW you don't have to go straight to the battery to jump start it. Simply onpen the hood and look on the right side of the engine bay.You should see an open space near the firewall. you'll see a black box.open it. Inside will be a nut with a red cable running from it.That is the positive. Then look along the the same side of the engine bay, near the strut tower, you'll see another nut. That is the ground..Caution.DO NOT CONFUSE THESE TWO NUTS. If you do, you may be able to kiss the computer goodbye. These cars are sensitive to electronic spikes..On some Model 323i, based on the year, you may be able to find the positive nut under a cover on the intake manifold. Simply remove the cover and you'll see a nut with a red cable running from it. If you're still unsure about jump starting a BMW, then Have the car towed to a BMW Mechanic.Do not try to jump it. One mistake and you could fry the electronics in that car...And that could be expensive.

In the back. Should be a panel inside the trunk that you may remove to reveal the battery. Terminals are on the battery.

On the battery. If you can not find the battery under the hood, you may want to most likely get someone able to do it for you.

there should be a positive terminal under the hood just next to the steering wheel column. put the red clamp on it and the black clamp on any part of metal. once the car is started don't remove the cables till you turn on your headlights and your a/c to full blast. this will prevent the computer from shorting out. if all else fails the battery should be under the rear passenger seat or in the trunk depends on the bmw model
