1998 manual. based on your preference, 1998 gives you to choice between the GST turbo, GSX all wheel drive turbo, or the GST Spyder convertable. Plus they look better than the 2000 2007 models

2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Hardtop manual
Manual is best on Sports car
02 is better than any newer model
By opinion, I favor Hardtop

I could go with the 2002, stick, hard top. If you go for a sport car you have to get it stick. The newer eclipses were preaty much made so that you can not do any work on it as far fixing it you are self.

A 99 only with the all wheel drive or turbo package because the other one run the 2.0 that dodge has in their neon that generally have head gasket problems

if you must have a mitsubishi, get the 98. the 2002 is riddled with problems, as I have one.
Dunno about the 2006, but given their repute, stay with 1999 and earlier models.

I've had both the 2nd gens and third gen eclipse, but I'd have to say I'd go with a 2006, six speed, with the 3.8 v6. To my knowledge, no other eclipse ever had as much power as smooth from the factory. The pre 00 models that were turbocharged were pretty fast, but the turbo lag made them a ache to drive in traffic, whereas the afterward v6 models had a smooth power band. as well, the earlier non turbo cars weren't that bad, as I had a 95. Yes, the head gasket went out on it, after the last owner abused it since new and put 168K miles on it. Not bad, I should say. nevertheless all good cars, but I think the 06 is the best. Just my .02
