Well it depends on what series talked about?
Mercedes E 500?
BMW 550i?
Both these cars are alike when it comes to performance,
with the Mercedes barely beating the BMW in zero 100km times by 0.2 seconds.
Though the BMW will still get to 200km and beyond faster than the Mercedes.
Since I drove for so long in Germany where speed isn't as.."forbidden" as here in the states,The BMW is my choice of weapons..Till I settle down and have a family, then I will get a Mercedes E class because I think they're safe cars...

Well they're two completely different cars, one is a saloon and the other is a 4x4
Personaly I could go for the five series, because its a bigger and more manly car

BMW 545, but if it is BMW M5 and Mercedes E55 AMG, then that could be a hard choice but I could still get the BMW

Whoever said one is a 4X4 is totally wrong. they're both mid size sedans.
I think it depends on what you are looking for: the BMW is more focused towards the sporty side of the spectrum, whereas the Mercedes emphasizes luxury and comfort.
I could personally chose the BMW, but only because I favor sportier machines.

BMW, the quality of the car is much better than the E class.my freinds E class broke down in 1st week he bought it, but my other freinds X5 has 100,000 miles on it and still running like new.

The BMW has better in general performance but I do not quite like the new design. The E Class looks better but looses to the BMW in driving experience. Given a choice, I'd go for the BMW 540 since I do not have a chauffeur.
