Why are you creeping forward?

So I pulled up behind you at the stop light and there were some people in front of you and some people behind me. You stopped about 15 feet behind the person now in front of you, then, over the course of the next two minutes, crept a bit forward. a bit forward. a bit forward. I thought that this could sooner or later stop, but as you neared the back bumper of the person in front of you, you crept forward only inches instead of feet, then fractions of inches. sooner or later, I noticed that your brake lights could flicker while no observable motion could happen. The person ahead of you was not moving at all.

I crept forward, too, at 1st, as to not leave a giant gap between us and appear like some sort of dolt, till I realized that you wouldn’t stop creeping. As I crept forward, the people behind me could have to creep forward too. So none of us could just sit there and wait for the light, Zen like, we had to be active to not appear like fools.

Why not just pull up near the person in front of you, stop, then rest for a couple of minutes?

This is my favorite form of entertainment when driving. EVERY time the dunce in front of me moves up, if it is 1/2 inch, I do the same. It drives some of them totally CRAZY.

I figure why do they think only THEY can move up and I cannot? I'm the one who establishes what the distance will be between my front bumper and his rear, like it or not.
