Why could all gauges go out on 1999 cherokee sport?

odometer reads no bus?

I have seen this happen with some newer vehicles.
1. fuse
2. unplugged wire holder thing.. from the fuse box
3. electrical problems
4. Our fuel pump went out and it shorted the whole gauge panel.
