Ok Well lets start with the basics.
A turbocharger creates more power by rising the amount and pressure of the air going into the engine.
More increase + more fuel more power.
A increase controller regulates the amount of pressure going into the engine by helping controll the wastegate actuator. the wastegate actuator is a device that bypasses exhaust gases to control the turbo
Aftermarket engine management Is a way to tune the amount of fuel/timing and other factors that play into combustion.
Remember More air+ more fuelmore power? Well in most applications the stock engine management system can not add enough fuel to reimburse for the increase in air.So to "tune" for good power and dependability you need a way to control this yourself.
Other factors that may be controlled are ignition timing, increase pressure..etc
Finally, the turbo timer guards the turbo by keeping the engine running, so oil flowing too cool the turbo after a hard run.
Now this is a shallow look at how all of this works but I hope it assists you are aware of things a bit better.
