Believe it or not, our brains aren't able of multitasking. we're one track through and through. due to speed at which our brains procedure info, it can switch between tasks at very high speeds giving the look of doing two things now.

Example, talking on your cell phone while driving. You get involved in a conversation, then all of sudden, you realize that you',ve just missed your turn. You drived depending on subconscious and autonomous responses to visual stimuli, while your conscious mind has been focused on the conversation.

As far as turning down the volume while searching for an address, it may be one of two things or both.

1 Like I said before, you may be able to only consciously concentrate on one thing at a time. if you're trying to concentrate on reading signs before they pass, you'll turn down the radio so that you may decrease the incoming stimuli to just what you want to concentrate on

2 If there's someone else in the car who is helping you with directions or looking for the street sign, it is simpler to communicate without having to talk over the radio.

because the paper speaks to your brian on a telepathic level, and the music also does it, but you may be able to turn down how much
