Why will not my 1990 acura legend turn right? |
|
when I turn the wheel to the right there's lots of resistance, it makes lots of sound, feels wobbily, and feels like the right wheel is going to snap off, can not speed up much while turning right, makes a deafening snap sound, and when you attempt to straighten the wheel out after turning insted of it straighting out.. it turns hard to the left like someone grabbed the wheel and yankked on it .
any ideas of what it may be?
someone suggested a "boot bearing"??

No, this isn't a CV boot or ball bearing issue . it's more serious, like a steering rod or arm issue. The bad news is you need a mechanic and should most likely have it towed there. The good news is that it's inexpensive to the rest of the work typically done on Acuras . around $750, since it's all done on the lift with no under hood work.
Please do not drive it in this condition. If the arm didn't break, it'll shortly, and you really do not want to experience that, trust me . it is like the wheel brokes free and wobbles all over the place it generally did, you send up sparks as you realize you can not control the car. You get less than a mile of travel once it's gone it is happened to me with no warning . call the towtruck, then rent a car for a couple of days.

it is your control arm, most probably the bushing is worn.

have a local mechanic look at the low control arm.
My mom's car had alike problem with steering and it was because the low control arm was bent.
