the 1st answerer is mistaken, uhh. no not any car can drift, any car can slide, but sliding isn',t drifting, drifting is powering into the slide and holding and controlling it. not any car can do that. my friends got a 1998 bmw 318is and that doesn',t drift.
a non turbo ca18de engine most likely couldn',t hold the back end out to be honest, you can be able to get a kick with the back end out with the handbrake, or a fast ',',Scandinavian flick',',, but it wouldn',t have the power to drift. the s13',s turbo do but, as I know amateur drift license holders who use them and have been round the track in them.
so yes it could get sideways, but most likely wouldn',t drift. the ca18de only has 117 ft/ibs torque and 131bhp, turbo ca18det variant has 166ft/ibs. to get you some comparason my mates 318is has 138bhp and more torque and can not keep the back end out.
