most likely not. You have a slight hp edge 340 vs 333, however you weight a more 3869 vs 3415 . if you mean "keep up" as in a drag race, you will be happy at the 60 foot mark, where the quattro will leap into a fast lead, but you will get passed quickly thereafter as the power to weight percentage will eat up your lead quickly.
If you mean "keep up" as on a roadcourse or autocross, the BMW could again get the nod. The M3 is an unbelievable performer in these venues, and rear wheel drive tends to be faster and easier to drive at the bound than AWD, the latter being usually tuned to more understeer.
However, with all of that said, the two cars are close enough that the one that's driven better will win.even in something as simple as a straight line test.and particularly in a more technical event like a road race or autocross.
If it is any consolation, at a stoplight to stoplight race, the Audi could most likely win. It takes some time and forethought to turn off the traction control on the BMW, and without that off, the car is lazy off the line. Not that I'd ever condone street racing, of course.

Depends. it'll by luxury. as well, a poor driver is probably to be faster around a race track in the S4, since it is simpler to drive. But the M3 is lighter, only somewhat weaker, and is rwd, which decreases efficiency lost in the drivetrain. In dry weather it should handle better and be faster.
Of course, in wet weather, it is another story completely.
