Will my car pass inspection if the the engine light was reset although I need my catalytic converter repla?

In some states they scan the computer for codes on the newer vehicles, rather than a tailpipe test. They say that you must drive the car for two weeks after the battery was disconnected, before they can test it. I have taken friends vehicles to be tested, and used my scanner to clear the codes right before I pulled in. They passed.

If the light isn't on, it'll rely on what your real emissions readings are when you take the car it. It may pass if it is border line.

If the light comes one the emissions places aren't allowed to pass the car.

No after you have driven for some that light will come right back on. Resetting the light does not erase the problem just the code. Every time you start your car is runs a "self test" to check for problems. If whatever is wrong with the cat that made the light come on happens again then the light will come right back on and store the code again. you may want to have it fixed anyway flawed convertors can because bad gas mileage and running problems.

Depends on where you're, every state is different. attempt to get it nice and hot on the highway just before it gets tested. be sure it is tuned up new spark plugs, etc., and that the oil was changed recently.

No, it'll not pass emissions without a good converter on it. The converter has a special kind of ceramic that heats up to someplace around 500 degrees and burns the gas that the engine did not burn while it is running, if you do not have a good converter, then your car is putting out too much emissions.

It may if your exhaust emissions,s aren't to strong,,sometime,s they'll over look one that maybe just has a little hole in it,,but it all rely.s on the state you live in,,and how rigorous they're if it's emitting high emission content,s in to the air,,they most likely won't pass it,,but not all center,s that do the inspection,s,,go by the book,,some are more easy,,than other,s,,good luck on this till you get it fixed,,i hope this help,s you.
