Wipers flawed on a vw polo?

the windscreen wipers on my 1995 vw polo come on on their own accord for no reason. both front and rear wipers operate without being switched on, so they can not be switched off which is frustrating on a dry sunny day.. is it the stalk unit that's full of dust doing this?

its probably to be a flawed switch, get one from the scrappy, it should be a fast job to change

Either a short circuit on the wiper system or flawed switch or both. attempt and disconnect the switch on the steering column and see if the situation changes then you know it's the switch fault, otherwise it should be a short someplace.Get help from a competent shop if possible.Goodluck.
