With a budget of about $4000, what are the best subs and amp I could get?
I've heard lots of people talk about lots different hookups that they say are the best, and there is lots of brands out there saying they are the best, so what really is?
I'm looking for whatever can get the most boom, rumble, and roar while keeping it clean, fast, and hard. I hate it when I hear subs that are to slow to keep up with the song or create lots of distortion.

Oh, and I have a Dodge Ram with an expanded cab, so were really taking out the center console and possibly the back seat for the sub's enclosure.

Hey, attempt looking at infinity's lineup. They really are some of the hardest hitting subs around and for a comparatively big budget, look at the kappa series. A couple of 12's hooked up on a 1000 watt amp could make your rear view mirror shake off the hinges at least mine did . If you want tight bass that will make the person in front of you feel as if they have a sub, this is the company for you. Check out this web site, dependable. crutchfield.com

a car stereo system is only as good as the hookup. you may be able to have the biggest baddest subs and amps in the world but if you have trashy RCA cables and wires then all that big and bad means nothing. you have to take in consideration the space in the trunk cuz your trunk acts as a second box and what kind of music do you listen to is a factor. I personally think 12's are for the fast hip hop or pop beats and 15's are for the slow deep R & B beats. be sure you get an amp that pulls little power but puts out lots of power and be sure that the amp does not out power the subs and be sure that the subs aren't being starved by the amp.

Well you did not say what kind of car you have. Is the $4k only for subs & amp or the whole system.
fast & hard eh?. I could stick with 10" woofers
accurate bass go with sealed box
Most boom will be bandpass
bandpass may be too hard to build
go with ported.

orion hcca subs r really nice. the bad thing about them although is you need a lot of power to make them sound good. one 10" requires atleast 1500 watts rms.

A cap is no worse than a battery except it has no charge on it when you get it.

I'd go with one of these 4.
Diamond Audio D9. great woofer sounds great and gets deafening.

Image Dynamics IDMAXX. Also will sound great, but it'll go really really low

Pioneer Premier TS W5102SPL. loudest woofer on Earth, and has the SPL record to prove it. doesnt sound as good as the others although.
