Unless it has been owned by a real good maintaining owner last. Yes.
It was not my 1st, but I bought a 1987 Turbo and it ran perfect, till I stupidly allowed my son to drive it,out of sympathy, because his wife could make him walk to work.
I should have like him walk too.. He tore it up. But previous to that I never had a problem and if you're a tyrant on cars, leave the older cars to someone who can take care of it in it is old age.

im guessing your 16ish, if it's your 1st car, you don't need one, particularly an 87 its old. probally needs work, has lots of miles. my opinion not worth it

Pretty old unless it was taken really good care of. I would not fool with it.

unless you are prepared to pay Porsche maintenance, which is costly, I would not think about it. Just because you are able to pay for to purchase a used one now, it does not mean you may be able to pay for to fix it. Porsche is not a do it yourself car for a 1st timer.

944s are difficult..they are cheap to purchase, they handle great, so they're seductive. But they're a maintenance intensive car and unless you may be able to use up $200 a month on average to keep in on the road, do not do it.
If you doubt this, go ask a fix shop the cost of a a new clutch for your 944 b a water pump

It's a 20 year old car. I could offer that if it's a one owner, perfectly maintained car, you're going to have lots of fix bills to pay.
A 20 year old vintage car is not for those looking for a 1st car. it's for those who has lots of time and money and looking for a project.
Basically unless you're wealthy and have another daily driver over this 944 hobby car, you'll find it very frustrating. it'll break down frequently and you'll either pay lots for someone else to fix the car or you'll use up lots of time sourcing parts, then doing the repairs yourself.
In anycase, the 944 will probably not be a dependable daily driver but instead could be a lovely weekend cruising car.
