i know I have a couple of bad sensors.coolant temp, o2, and knock. could those being bad make my car sound funny? I have a whole lot of engine sound, but I didn't know if it has been related to the sensors or not. I didn't wanna fix them and use up so much and figure out that the engine has the sound if the sensors are fixed or not.

The O2 sensor gives the computer the info on fuel/air ration etc that alone can because the engine to run humorous. The knock sensor will definately make the engine sound humorous as it'll retard the timing if needed. Coolant temp sensor could surely tell the computer to do different odd things. so yes, all of these could add up to the engine making humorous noises.
If the knock sensor is bad, attempt running a higher octane fuel 89 or 91 if for no other reason a test. If the car starts to act better using the higher octane fuel then you could just use that instead of fixing the sensor but you'd have to then compute which will cost you more. spending $4.50/tank more each fillup avg 30 cents per gallon higher than 87 octane fuel x 15 gallons = $4.50 versus how much to repair/replace the sensor. over time the $5/tank will add up so replacing the sensor will be a smart idea but you could attempt the gas for a while to at least "buy you time" or if nothing else, to stop the engine from knocking which is quite bad for an engine to do.

A bad coolant sensor will make an engine run like complete crap. typically when the coolant sensor fails, it is telling the ecm that the coolant temp is 35 degrees. so the ecm will open the injectors and flood the engine with fuel making it run rough and spew black smoke. The other sensors won't work properly due to bad coolant sensor.

don't wast your money on sensors if knock sensor code is there , attempt to find what is the engine sound 1st

i propose replacing the sensors, the coolant temp sensor tells the computer how warm the engine is. the engine runs different as indicated by temp, if the temp goes up far enough the amount of fuel will go up, the temp goes down the fuel amount goes up, temp is a important part of the engine performance, your o2 sensor is important, it tells the computer how economical the engine is running, and changes the fuel amount therefore if the temp permits.

now if you have those two sensors bad, or any other engine monitoring sensors bad, and you have too much fuel or not enough fuel you will start to back fire. which your knock sensor reads. again to let the computer know how much fuel is obliged. if your knock sensor doesnt work, the computer isn't precisely making decisions. its like working with one eye.

your car is just one big network of sensors and computers.. they are lone goal is to run at maximum efficiency. one bad sensor knocks it out of its power band
