XM Direct Question. How do I hard wire the power so it does not reset the presets?
I've got it all torn separately, and I am pretty good at installing stuff like this. I have read that people have direct connected the power from the radio to the XMDirect system so that the presets do not get reset every time the car is turned off. I just have to know which wires to use, because I do not want to fry the whole thing. it's a Sony player, the TERK XMDirect system, and the particular Sony tuner to hook the two together. The radio works great, works perfectly really, except that the presets disappear when turned off or cycled from CD to Tuner to XM.

The problem is not finding the wire in my Durango, that is easy. it's which wire and how to hook it up to the XM Direct unit. it looks to only have a data cable and a RCAs.

Hmmmmm, ..Lets see,you do not want to hook it to a blue wire in the head unit area as that's a "switched" wire, and if you have a G.M. product a yellow wire is a sure bet but there are two, one switched and one not switched. You could also run a lead to your lighter accessory wire, the one that isn't grounded to the metal housing. OR if you feel ambitious you may be able to run direct from the fuse block or from the battery, only., be sure you power down when you shut the car down for the day. the XM unit . There are some number of free sites on the web and you may be able to enter in the particular key words and get some help full wiring ideas and diagrams, attempt.,12voltsupply.com or net, enter in your car name, model, year, and what you're trying to do and it'll bring up wiring schematics showing live, switched, and other variants to the same question. here is hoping this helps a bit. afterward. Gary.

does this system need you to hook up your power and ground seperate from plugging into the sony? if so sounds like your grabbed igntion instead of constant 12v, or grounded to the wrong wire.
